Phyllis Barax, M.S, a Special Education Consultant at Out of the Box Therapy, completed her master's degree in Special Education and certification in Elementary Education from Adelphi University. She has worked as a classroom teacher, as a liaison between teachers, parents, psychologists, and other associated professionals, and also as the director of an elementary school resource room.

Phyllis has almost 30 years of experience. Her interest is in the field of learning disabilities. She utilizes special education tools and techniques to help each student effectively achieve his/her best. For the students to gain confidence in their abilities, Phyllis creates a positive learning environment. She educates parents to help them increase their understanding of educational modifications.
